Crowned and nimbed figure of St Helen stands facing to dexter, wearing a white mantle over a blue robe, holding a wooden cross in her right hand. The figure has been moved here, probably from the south aisle, and stands against a made-up plain ruby ground. There is no label, but she is identified by the cross and crown. Technique as A2. c.1420 – c.1440. Piece of micro-architecture on left, and two small pieces of blue foliage in top foil may be in situ. The rest of the setting is now plain white glass. Several repair leads. Keyser’s pre-restoration photo shows that in 1907, the only glass in this light was the piece with the head and top of the cross, and one or two unidentifiable fragments. Lower part of figure and background is a confection by Caldwell.

Keyser’s 1907 photograph shows the figure of St Lambert placed inside-out in the window, which is why most of the paint is now missing from the figure. The panel was painted to be placed the way it is now, as the inscription shows, but having St Lambert facing to dexter badly unbalances the composition of the window, which would seem to demand that the pair of figures above each main light should look towards each other. The most likely original arrangement of the window was as it is now, despite the anomaly of composition. As a consequence of the reversal of the figure at some stage before 1907, the throne, blue ground and base of the figure are not wholly coherent and include repaints by Caldwell of the ground.
