'W. window Fawkham Church, Kent/ 26 March 1847 C.W./ In Thorpe?s Custumale Roffense p. 113 an engraving is given of two shields, formerly in one of the north windows, and which he ascribes to the Grandisons. These arms may be thus blazoned Or, a cross gules, charged with 5 castles of the 2d between 4 trefoils azure, radicated vert. The castles are now worked into the border of the light, see no. 25 and only the 2 trefoils & ornament drawn here, remain. [?the? of ?the 2 trefoils? a superscript insertion. Winston includes a diagram of two shields next to each other answering to the blazon given; the right-hand shield is drawn as a simplified version of the left-hand one.]
