'Merton Col(lege) Cha(pe)l 1846/ Pencil work of lower light' then 'The design of pencil work [?]repeats/ in width of light running from top/ to bottom and terminating at top/ with a large leaf - East window has the same pencil/ work in each of its lights - There are three sorts of pencilwork/ in Merton Col(lege) Chapel in ten windows/ and four sorts of stone tracery - The canopies of glass form a / line running round the Chapel' then 'Merton College Chapel 1846/ This is to shew the/ number of repetitions/ of the pattern : and/ by referring to tracings/ the size of lower lights/ can be ascertained' then 'Merton College Chapel/ April 4th 1846' then 'No 3/ Maple' then 'No 1/ Ivy' then 'Mullions 6" through' then 'Merton College Chapel/ April 1846' then 'No 2/ Oak' then 'No 4/ Ivy' then 'Mullions 6" through'
