January 1846/ This shield was never origionally [sic] impaled with any other: It had been cut with a diamond, to fit one of the narrow tracery lights of the East window -, -a late Perpendicular insertion,- The enamel brown had not been carried round the straight sides of the lions; - And the straight lead had not even been soldered to the leads surrounding the lions?
